History – Originally named Montana City, Denver was born in 1858 during the Pikes Peak Gold Rush. The named was later changed to Denver City in order to try to gain favor with Kansas Territorial Governor James W. Denver. Although Denver became a city in 1858, it did not become a county until 1902.

Led Zeppelin played their first ever show in America at the Denver Auditorium Arena on December 26, 1968.
