History – Broomfield Municipality was originally a part of Boulder County. The city grew through annexation and eventually was a part of 4 different counties. In 1998 an amendment was passed to make Broomfield a consolidated city and county. After a 3 year transition period, Broomfield became the 64th and smallest county in Colorado. It is unknown how Broomfield received it name, speculation says it was named for the broomcorn grown in the area.
Real Estate in Broomfield County – Broomfield County lies between Denver and Boulder along the Boulder Turnpike. At only 33 square miles, Broomfield is the 5th smallest county by area in the United States, but the thirteenth most populous county in Colorado. According to the US Census there are 29,675 housing units (2019) and the population is estimated at 70,465 (2019).
